Can there be a healthcare paradigm shift? The numbers say yes! 70,000 Chiropractors treat more than 35,000,000 patients annually. The impact of Chiropractors sharing this film to promote the profession will forever change the healthcare marketplace.
Roger Sparks, Recon Marine, USAF Pararescueman and Silver Star recipient, was extremely well trained in trauma medicine. Upon his retirement, he was credited with saving over 300 lives – and those are just the ones on record. However, his view of health was limited to conventional western medicine – surgeries and medications.
In keeping with the Pararescueman’s motto: “These Things We Do, That Others May Live,” Roger wants to learn how to heal others first and, in the process, heals himself. He brings his knowledge and experience to his new life mission – to discover how someone can heal their body, mind and spirit. Roger brings his own insights into his quest: he has broken every long bone in his body, including his back that left him paralyzed, he’s been diagnosed with severe traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress.
While the world went into COVID lockdown mode, Roger embarked on a reconnaissance mission to seek out better healthcare options for his family, brotherhood and himself. His exploration took him across 21 states covering 28,000 miles and he interviewed over 75 chiropractors, patients and fellow combat veterans. Roger being Roger, he sought out tier one Chiropractors, thought leaders, influencers and fellow American military heroes, including Medal of Honor recipients.
Initially, Roger was skeptical about chiropractic but he was willing to give it a chance. After a lifetime of being on deployments and away from his family, he is very selective about traveling as an advocate for his peers. If the “proof wasn’t in the pudding” – as he would say, he simply would have gone home. What he learned immediately was that chiropractic was not just getting adjustments for neck and back pain and that chiropractic is truly the tip of the spear for overall health or “wellbeing.”
ALL patients need to give non-evasive conservative care a chance before medications, surgeries and then a lot more medications, which is unfortunately the standard of care. If there has ever been a time for chiropractic to change healthcare it’s now. Patients need to know there will never be a vaccine to save them being part of the “sick care” paradigm.
Someone who has experienced death on the battlefield knows first-hand that life is a gift that should never be taken for granted. Roger Sparks is that man and there could not be a better advocate for chiropractic than the man who experienced BACKBONE.
